Principal Investigator

Emanuel Gull is a Professor of Physics at the University of Michigan and a Visiting Professor at the University of Warsaw, where he leads the ERC Advanced grant Quantum Algorithms. He received his PhD from ETH Zürich in 2008 (supervisor: Matthias Troyer), was a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University (2009–2011), and led a work group at MPI PKS Dresden (2012). His research centers on the development and application of diagrammatic Monte Carlo methods, quantum impurity solvers, analytic continuation algorithms, and self-consistent many-body perturbation theory for correlated electron systems. He is the recipient of a Sloan Research Fellowship, a DOE Early Career Research Award, the SCES Nevill F. Mott Prize, and an ERC Advanced Grant. He serves as a Divisional Associate Editor of Physical Review Letters.
